MIPM invests in digitalization

MIPM GmbH has been training its own technical product designers (m/f/d) in construction since 2017. Software is now investing even more in this area in order to improve the design processes and thus make work more fun.

Since 2017, MIPM GmbH has been training its own technical product designers in construction. Now, even more investment is being made in software in this area to improve construction processes and make work more enjoyable.

The now five-member design team (four designers and one female designer) brings in their creative ideas, supports development with prototype construction, and maintains documents until the new products are handed over to production. Now it's their turn for more optimization. The new software enables the company to seamlessly link a product from the initial design draft through resource planning to automatic ordering. This integrated solution provides incredible flexibility across departments and reduces the error rate. The requirements from the design can thus be immediately passed on digitally to purchasing and production.

David Pavlovic, the first trained product designer in MIPM's company history, who is now firmly involved in the design team, is enthusiastic about this investment. "It brings us so many advantages: we are faster, more flexible, and have more fun at work." The 28-year-old had already studied automotive engineering for four semesters before deciding to train at MIPM. "I felt the practical side was lacking, so I dropped out of university," says David Pavlovic. "Then I worked as a landscape gardener for 2.5 years." It was a great experience, but his strong interest in technology, mechanics, and development, as well as his preference for being a practitioner rather than a theorist, prevailed. Jennifer Rosenheimer (Managing Director) is more than proud of David Pavlovic. "We won't let him go," she laughs. This means he has been permanently hired.

During his shortened training period (two years instead of 3.5), David Pavlovic achieved excellent results. As recognition, he was the very first apprentice allowed to drive the so-called Azubi-Flitzer. MIPM acquired the BMW Mini Cooper S specifically for the apprentices. They take turns driving it home or on business trips.

Meanwhile, the third product designer is already in training at MIPM, and more apprenticeship positions are planned for 2020. "The decision to invest in construction has repeatedly proven to be positive," says Jennifer Rosenheimer, Managing Director and advocate of digitization. The commitment and diversity of the design team inspire MIPM GmbH and hold so much potential for the future.

The implementation of the new software was very flexible, with training conducted via digital media during the COVID-19 pandemic. Now it's time to get to work with the new tool and move into faster, smarter working. Technical apprentices also get insights into development. There are still open apprenticeship positions for 2020.
